Choose one part of the Cotswolds
A good day trip is built around proximity. These outlines are deliberately selective, because rushing between every famous village produces more driving than enjoyment.
North Cotswolds route
Start in Chipping Campden, allow time for the High Street and a short walk, then continue to Broadway. Add Broadway Tower only when the weather and available time make it worthwhile.
Central villages route
Begin early in Bourton-on-the-Water, then choose either Stow-on-the-Wold or a quieter nearby village. Do not treat every village as a five-minute photo stop; the pleasure comes from walking beyond the main street.
South and central route
Use Cirencester as the anchor, then choose Bibury, Tetbury or the Cotswold Water Park depending on your interests.
Before travelling
Check opening arrangements, parking restrictions, weather and live transport information directly with official sources. Seasonal daylight and major local events can materially change what is realistic.
