Chipping Norton Bowls Club
Chipping Norton has a very successful indoor and outdoor bowls club. Located on the A361 Burford Road, the outdoor club was set up over 36 years ago and the indoor club has just celebrated its first 25 years of existence.
Members both male and female range in age from teenagers to members in their 80s (with some having been with the club since its formation) and others just starting.
Being one of the few indoor rinks in the area, members of the indoor section are drawn from outdoor clubs without indoor facilities from as far afield as Chadlington, Charlbury and Witney in the south, Little Compton in the north and Moreton-in-Marsh in the west.
The facilities include four indoor rinks and six outdoor plus dining area and bar and the club has a very strong social calendar of events, which include a weekly club night each Wednesday from 6pm-8pm during the summer months.
Members participate in competitions both within the club and County and, on occasions, at National level. The indoor season commences in October and finishes in March and the outdoor from April until the end of September.
If you fancy having a go at playing bowls, two resident coaches, Mike Harris and Bill Jarvie, would be happy to get you started and the club would be very happy to help you get started with coaching and the loan of equipment.
For more details contact Bill or Roberta Jarvie on 01608 643556 or John Bowlt 01608 684140.
