Chipping Norton Lido

Home > Cotswold Towns > Chipping Norton Lido

At Loving the Cotswolds, we think Chipping Norton Lido is best enjoyed at an unhurried pace, taking time to notice the buildings, lanes and little local details that give the place its character.

As you explore, look out for local highlights such as Cotswold Towns, Chipping Norton Lido Summary and Opened in, along with the quieter streets, views and details that help tell the story of the town.

Summary:

Opened in 1970 following a seven-year fundraising campaign, Chipping Norton Lido is an oasis for serious early-morning swimmers or families looking for an afternoon’s outdoor fun.

In 1963 a fundraising campaign begain in Chipping Norton to build a swimming pool. More than £20,000 was raised in just seven years and in 1970 the Lido was opened.

With its heated 25m pool and toddler pool, slide and café, the Lido is an oasis in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, whether you’re a serious early-morning swimmer or a family looking for an afternoon’s outdoor fun.

Since 2004 the Lido has been run by local people as a charity and the Lido Café serves lovely home-cooked food.

The Lido’s big fundraising event of the year is its auction of promises which has received huge support from Jeremy Clarkson, the journalist, author and broadcaster who lives locally.
