Many of the museum’s rooms contain interactives and toys, and some even sport peep holes into the cabinets at a child friendly-height.
In addition to the main displays in the mansion house, the museum’s modern extension houses a small gift shop and café area, alongside two art galleries which hosts exhibitions from a superb range of artists, both local and international. The museum also has an exciting events programme with the aim of offering something for everyone.
The house still bears the initials ‘G.G.’ and date ‘1674’ for Giles Gardner, who inherited the property. However, the house has seen many different owners over the years and the museum itself opened in 2001.
