Cotswold Show and Food Festival cancelled
28/05/2020
The Cotswold Show and Food Festival, one of the Cotswolds’ much loved summer events, has announced it has cancelled this year’s show due to Covid-19.
The show was due to have taken place at Cirencester Park on Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12.
Host and chairman of the show Lord Bathurst said: “It is recognised that it would be impossible, despite it being an outdoor event, to be able to safely implement any social distancing requirements in place at the time; particularly with crowds packed around the arenas along with the bustling marquees.”
This is only the second time in over 30 years that the Show has been cancelled, the first being due to the Foot and Mouth outbreak in 2001.
Lord Bathurst said: “This has been a difficult decision to make. We have waited as long as possible, whilst in contact with the relevant authorities. With no major changes to legislation around this type of event, and along with many others also postponed to 2021, we know this is the right and responsible thing to do as we have a duty of care to all those attending and indeed working at the show.”
Dates have been set for next year on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July 2021. Any tradestand and ticket bookings will automatically be transferred to the new dates.
