Blockley Decorative & Fine Arts Society organises 10 lectures a year given by NADFAS accredited lecturers.
The lectures cover a wide range of subjects from painting to porcelain and architecture to aboriginal art. Lectures have included the Taj Mahal, Augustus John and the Devonshire family.
Study days enable members to learn about a subject in more depth. Porcelain and Islamic art have been recent subjects.
Members also enjoy visits to some of the most significant sites in the UK to see paintings, plasterwork, sculpture, architecture, gardens. In previous years we have visited Haddon Hall, Chatsworth, and Strawberry Hill.
Venturing further afield, members have visited places of cultural interest with like-minded people including Aldalucia and Morocco.
Looking after our heritage is important to NADFAS and the society focuses on three main areas of
support:
• Heritage: volunteers conserve valuable artefacts such as fabrics, books, manuscripts, drawings.
• NADFAS church recorders aim to describe and record the contents of our local churches.
• To carry our work forward the society needs to attract young people and to this end financial
support is offered to enable them to further their studies in all aspects of art.
