Businesses in the Cotswolds are being urged to remember pedestrians when putting A boards or furniture outside their premises.
Following concerns from shoppers in Cotswold towns, the council will be working with shop owners to make sure that items for sale, tables and chairs, and A boards are not blocking pavements.

Cotswold District Council has confirmed that its waste service company, Ubico Ltd, will be collecting waste and recycling from households as usual on Good Friday (April 3) and Easter Monday (April 6).
The crews will also be collecting from households on the public holidays which fall on Monday, May 4, Monday, May 25, and Monday, August 31.

Cotswold photographer Rebecca Northway has scooped the overall award of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIIP) South West Photographer of the Year 2015.
Rebecca, based at Chalford, between Stroud and Cirencester, was handed the award – which covered the whole of the South West England and Wales – at a presentation in Cullompton, Devon.

Visits to Cotswold Leisure Cirencester are on course to exceed 500,000 this year for the first time ever, figures released today reveal.

BBC TV Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson – one of the Cotswolds’ most famous residents – has been suspended after allegedly punching a producer.
Clarkson, aged 54, was involved in a “fracas”, leading the BBC to decide not to show next Sunday’s episode. The broadcaster is also expected to scrap the remainder of the current series of Top Gear.

The early May Bank Holiday sees the return of the Lechlade Duck Race after a hugely successful first event last year.
The inaugural 2014 Lechlade Duck Race exceeded all expectations, attracting more than 5,000 spectators and raising £16,500 for charity.
Organiser Alisdair Hedworth said: “We had planned for about 2,000 people and in the end we were completely overrun, but in a good way.”

Cotswold District Council will soon be introducing rapid Electric Vehicle Charging Points (EVCPs) into the Cotswolds for the very first time.

The EVCPs are due to be installed at the Beeches car park in Cirencester and the Old Market Way car park in Moreton-in-Marsh, thanks to funding from the Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV).

This should encourage more local people to adopt a greener mode of travel, as the EVCPs will provide them with the flexibility to travel between locations in the north and south of the district and beyond.

The Waites of Gloucester are modelled on the band of musicians run by the City of Gloucester in the 16th and 17th centuries. The Waites also perform locally in the Cotswolds under the name Her Majestie’s Pleasure.
Enthusiasts for the music of the renaissance, apart from the pleasure of playing together, they enjoy introducing people to a range of instruments they may never otherwise have seen, and which sound distinctly different to modern ears.
Between them they have have well over 100 instruments of the period.
Come along to the musical evening at the Corinium Museum and hear some music from the Tudor and Jacobean periods.
Enjoy the music followed by a glass of wine, delicious canapés and chance to wander around the museum. Doors open at 7.15pm. All profits go to Cirencester Housing for Young People (Chyp), helping local young homeless people.

Cotswold District Council has announced a new £1 million fund to boost faster broadband coverage across the whole district.
The council will be setting aside £500,000 to finance installation work and this will be match funded by Gloucestershire County Council, boosting the total to £1 million.
