Society marks 30th anniversary with exhibition

Blockley Decorative & Fine Arts Society is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an exhibition at Court Barn in Chipping Campden.
The exhibition, which runs from Saturday, June 13, to Sunday, June 21, will offer a snapshot of the society’s important work including conserving textiles from stately homes, churches and places of historic interest.

Gloucestershire County Council has made changes to some of the parking restrictions in Stroud town centre and is trialling changes to times when delivery vehicles can access the pedestrianised streets.

A painter from Cornwall will be paddling from the Cotswolds to the edge of the Thames estuary in Essex to raise money for charity.
David Gander, from Penryn, will set off from Lechlade-on-Thames on Thursday (May 14) on his journey to Southend-on-Sea for Sea Sanctuary, a Cornish-based pioneering charity that delivers emotional health education on board classic sailing boats at a land-based creative workshop.

A young crane has laid her first egg three weeks late at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre in Gloucestershire as cool weather holds back spring for the natural world.

Gloucestershire County Council is investing £320,000 on resurfacing on the B4632 through Winchcombe and improving safety with work starting later this month.

The Cotswolds remained true blue as the Conservatives swept to an unexpected General Election victory which also saw them gain a stunning victory in Cheltenham.

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from May 11 to 17. This annual occasion is aimed at highlighting the issues around mental health and the support that is available, and this year’s theme is Mindfulness.
Nationally this event is arranged by the Mental Health Foundation but in the Cotswolds, local organisations including 2gether NHS Foundation Trust, Cotswold District Council (CDC), the Churn Project, Independence Trust, the Cirencester Housing for Young Project (CHYP), pharmacists and Soroptomists have joined forces to plan a series of events around Cirencester.

£10,000 postgraduate scholarships available at RAU

Nine scholarships worth £10,000 each are available for students who wish to study on a postgraduate degree at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) in Cirencester in October 2015.
